G-L-I-D-E
The G-L-I-D-E drill is used to increase your maximum speed by gliding. The G-L-I-D-E drill helps your speed by exaggerating an aspect of the breaststroke that many swimmers pass over: the glide. The glide is often ignored, yet if the swimmer pays attention to, and holds, their glide, they will notice an increase in efficiency and speed.
Steps:
Push off the wall in streamline. Pullout is optional.
After you finish your pull, remain in streamline and say "G, L, I, D, E" (do not speed talk. Say each letter for about 1 second. Each letter could be replaced by 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc.)
Swim in this manner for at least one 50.
