#-Kick Switch
#-Kick Switch. Do not worry, I will explain the strange title. This drill is used to develop a strong kick, proper rhythm, and rotation. It does this by forcing exaggerated rotation, increasing the swimmer's awareness of their rhythm (counting kicks) and forces the swimmer to mostly use your legs. I call it #-Kick Switch because you can swim the drill with any number of kicks you want (within reason, typically 6).
Steps
Steps
- Push of wall in streamline position.
- Pull out of streamline, leaving one arm extended by the ear. Stay on your side, extended arm down. You should be facing a side of the pool.
- Kick "#" of times (usually 3, 6, or 8)
- Roll to other side, pull extended arm down, extend other arm by other ear. You should now be facing the opposite side of the pool.
- Kick "#" of times, then start from step 2.
